Retro World Map - John Speed, 1651 - reprint
A reprint of an extremely rare world map by John Speed from 1651, this color-filled, eye-catching decoration will keep you reading for hours. It was one of the earliest maps available in English.
A printout of reprints prepared with the greatest care for similarity to the original map. The texture and color of the paper are to reproduce the material on which the originals were printed.
The map shows the two hemispheres of the earth: western and eastern. It takes climatic zones into account. The map is full of charming flavors: sea creatures and sailing ships. It is surrounded by smaller celestial spheres, personified elements of water, earth, air and fire, and several paintings depicting, among others, eclipse of the sun and moon. The map also features images of great explorers: Sir Francis Drake, Ferdinand Magellan, Thomas Cavendish and Olivier van Noort.
