Brass Astrolabe
The Brass Astrolabe is a great gift for an astronomer and a lover of space and science. Astrolabes served the great scientists in discovering the secrets of the cosmos and performing many complex calculations, such as determining the time of sunrise and sunset, the length of the day, the astronomical height of the Sun and stars.
The astrolabe is an astronomical instrument that is an expression of human curiosity, scientific ambition, and humanity's quest to understand the universe.
The small astrolabe NC 1912 is mainly decorative. Moving rings, however, will allow for astronomical fun. The brass armillary sphere will be a very elegant decoration for the office, study or living room.
The centerpiece of the astrolabe is the Earth, which is surrounded by rings representing the equator, the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn, and the zodiacal ring. The latter represents the annual path of the Sun through the zodiacal constellations.
